Adaptive Air Token for RockShox Lyrik & ZEB
Patent Pending Technology
Compatible with RockShox Lyrik and ZEB (Solo Air, DebonAir, DebonAir+). Works with or without ButterCups. The VSS is also compatible with RockShox BoXXer when equipped with the correct nozzle. Not compatible with 32mm forks, Gold/Silver models, or Dual Position air springs.
Run lower pressure. Get controlled support. Stay higher in the travel when it matters.
This version is optimized for the operating pressures commonly found in RockShox Lyrik and ZEB forks. It delivers strong adaptive support while maintaining excellent small-bump sensitivity and predictable performance.
⚠️ Higher-Pressure Forks & Nozzle Selection
The VSS token itself is identical across all compatible RockShox forks. The only difference is the nozzle.
BoXXer forks and the new 2027+ Lyrik Ultimate & ZEB Ultimate with the Linear XL air spring operate at significantly higher air pressures than previous Lyrik and ZEB models. As a result, they typically require much larger nozzle sizes.
VSS Configuration Tool (Required)
Nozzle and VSS tune selection depends on your fork model, air spring, air pressure, and riding style. The VSS Configuration Tool determines the correct setup in less than 30 seconds, including the new 2027+ Linear XL forks.
→ Open VSS Configuration ToolEvery kit includes additional nozzles for fine tuning.
What's Included
- 1× VSS Smart Air Token
- Your selected nozzle
- +1 softer nozzle
- -1 firmer nozzle
- Nozzle wrench
Pro tip: If you also ride a BoXXer, you'll typically need larger nozzles because of its higher operating pressure.
How It Works
Virtual volume, not physical volume. The VSS reacts to shaft speed and pressure conditions instead of acting like a traditional volume token.
- Cruising: Plush feel, similar to 1 token.
- Fast terrain: Builds adaptive support equivalent to roughly 3–6 tokens.
- Hard impacts: Keeps you higher in the travel while avoiding harsh bottom-outs.
Support appears only when needed, preserving comfort and sensitivity everywhere else.
VSS Enduro vs DH Version (Important)
VSS Enduro:
The standard tune for trail, enduro, all-mountain and general riding. It provides strong adaptive support while maintaining sensitivity and allowing you to use your full travel more easily.
VSS DH:
A stronger tune designed for aggressive riding, racing, bike parks and hard impacts. The fork feels stronger and absorbs impacts more efficiently, so you may use slightly less travel at the same sag.
With the DH tune, reaching full travel can be harder, but the fork can still feel very controlled and comfortable. Running more sag while using slightly less travel can give you a more supported front end without making the fork feel harsh.
The Vorsprung Luftkappe is NOT compatible with the VSS DH version. If you are running a Luftkappe, you must use the VSS Enduro version.
Personal note: I personally ride the DH tune. I prefer the extra support at the front and the feeling of being less exposed in the fork in the steeps, especially when running more sag. The fork absorbs impacts efficiently while staying strong and controlled.
Choose the tune based on your riding style. Use the VSS Configuration Tool to select the appropriate configuration for your fork, air spring, pressure and riding style.
Compatibility Details
- Fits: RockShox Lyrik, ZEB, and BoXXer
- Lyrik: 35mm
- ZEB: 38mm
- BoXXer: 35mm and 38mm (2024+)
- Air springs: Solo Air, DebonAir, DebonAir+, Linear XL
- ButterCups: Fully compatible
- Not compatible: 32mm forks, Gold/Silver models, or Dual Position air springs
Important: The VSS token is identical across all compatible RockShox forks. Only the nozzle changes. BoXXer forks operate at significantly higher air pressures and therefore require larger nozzle sizes. Using an undersized nozzle in a BoXXer can make the fork extremely harsh and may damage the VSS. Always use the recommended nozzle for the fork you're riding.
⚠️ Running a Vorsprung Luftkappe?
The Luftkappe also changes the air-spring curve, typically requiring higher pressure and producing a more linear spring rate with a progressive end-stroke. The VSS Configuration Tool accounts for these changes and checks compatibility and clearance before selecting the appropriate VSS setup.
Common Questions
Q: Do I really need the Configuration Tool?
A: Yes. Air pressure, air spring type and riding style affect both the nozzle and VSS tune, so proper configuration is essential.
Q: Can I use this VSS in my BoXXer?
A: Yes. The VSS token is the same for Lyrik, ZEB, and BoXXer forks. Simply install the correct nozzle and configuration before riding.
Q: What happens if I use my Lyrik/ZEB nozzle in a BoXXer?
A: BoXXer forks run much higher air pressures and typically require larger nozzle sizes. Using a smaller Lyrik/ZEB nozzle can make the fork extremely harsh and may damage the VSS.
Q: Does it need maintenance?
A: No. It's made entirely from engineered plastic with no moving parts. A conservative lifespan is 2–3 years, although it will typically last much longer.
Q: Do I need to change my air pressure?
A: Usually not. Some riders choose to lower pressure slightly for additional grip.
Q: Is this just another volume token?
A: No. Unlike a traditional token, the VSS dynamically adapts its effect based on shaft speed and impact intensity.
About the nozzles: The VSS token is the same across compatible RockShox forks. What changes is the nozzle. Because BoXXer forks run significantly higher air pressures, they generally require larger nozzle sizes than Lyrik or ZEB forks. Always use the recommended nozzle for the fork you're riding.

Bonne saison!
